David Harrison Publishes Spotlight Commentary

Evans School Senior Lecturer David Harrison contributed a commentary in Spotlight as part of a new series highlighting the work of the 2012 Ideas for Action Award winners. Harrison's article notes that this year's winners—the Financial Clinic of New York City, the Iowa Credit Union Foundation, the Arkansas Career Pathways Initiative, and the Crittenton Women's Union of Boston—exemplify two distinct approaches to helping people get out and stay out of poverty: financial asset building and breaking the cyclical nature of poverty.

The Ideas for Action Award, sponsored by the Northwest Area Foundation and co-administered by the Evans School and the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, recognizes organizations that take practical and innovative approaches to helping low-income individuals.
