Echoing the words of University of Washington President Ani Mari Cauce, in her reflections on the tragedy of Charlottesville, the Evans School stands resolute in our shared commitment to a more equitable and inclusive society. We firmly oppose all violence and harassment motivated by hatred and racism. We are deeply dedicated to combatting racism and to working with our entire School community in an engaged, participatory process to move this critical work forward.

Working collaboratively on efforts to support a more inclusive School community was a major focus this past academic year, building upon the efforts of prior years, and we are deeply committed to continuing and strengthening our work in this area when the new school year begins. I welcome conversations in the year ahead as we address issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism. This is not easy work, but it is important work, and something we must address together.

I look forward to sharing more specific plans for addressing these and other goals and priorities early in the school year.

Thank you for your commitment to these important issues.
