Admitted Students Open Houses

The Evans School would like to welcome all recipients of a letter of admission to our Admitted Student Open House Days! We will host one virtual session – which will be recorded for those unable to attend either event – on Thursday, March 28, and one in person session on Friday, March 29. We invite you to review the schedules below, which detail faculty drop-ins, full timetables, and Q&A sessions.

9:00 – 9:15 AM PST: Welcome from the Dean

Dr. Jodi Sandfort joined the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance as Dean in January 2021, bringing with her decades of experience in teaching and research focused on management and social policy implementation. She is excited to welcome all admitted students and to share her vision for the Evans School.

9:15 – 10:00 AM PST: Faculty Pop-In

Join Evans School faculty for informal conversations to learn about their teaching and research. During this pop-in, participants will be able to chat with a select number of Evans School professors.

10:00 – 11:15 AM PST: Graduate Student Equity & Excellence Staff Panel Live Q&A

Hosted by the Graduate Student Equity & Excellence Program (GSEE), this session highlights the GSEE staff and community while helping answer any questions you may have about being a graduate student of color at UW.

11:15 – 11:30 AM PST: Break

11:30 AM – 12:15 PM PST: Lightning Talks about the MPA Core Curriculum

The Evans School core curriculum provides MPA students with a solid academic foundation, from which they can pursue a wide range of coursework, research, and professional opportunities in public policy and management. Our faculty will discuss the MPA core curriculum in four areas, economics, statistics, management, and policy analysis, through lightning presentations, followed by a Q&A session with Evans faculty.

Current MPA students are excited to meet you and answer your questions about what it is like to be an Evans School student.

2:30 – 3:00 PM PST: Community Conversation with Alumni

As an Evans School student and graduate, you become a life-long member of an expansive community of more than 5,000 professionals who share a deep passion for the public good. Join a discussion with our alumni to learn more about how they are applying their MPA to a meaningful career in public service.

3:00 – 3:45 PM PST: ESO Meet & Greet

Join our student leadership group, Evans Student Organization (ESO), to make connections and find out what it’s like to involve yourself with student leadership at the Evans School! If you’d like to submit questions before this meeting or if you need assistance accessing the event, please email uweso@uw.edu.

3:45 – 4:30 PM PST: International Student Meet & Greet

Join our student group, the Evans International Student Association (EISA), to meet current international students and learn about their experiences as an Evans School MPA student. This space is designed for all admitted international students.

The UW’s Transportation Services has detailed information on getting to campus, including by car, bike, and public transportation. If you plan to travel by light rail, we recommend getting off at the University District Station.
