Center on Risk and Inclusion in Food Systems (CRIFS)

Mission

The mission of the Center on Risk and Inclusion in Food Systems (CRIFS) is to generate policy and action-focused research for improving the lives and livelihoods of small scale agricultural producers (SSPs), inclusive of women, in low- and middle-income countries, through increased contributions of social, climate, and other scientists to advancing cost-effective strategies for managing risks and volatility faced by these vulnerable populations as food systems transform.

Research Goals

CRIFS seeks to map gaps in understanding, and developing strategies for addressing:

  • Risk Identification: How historically measured and projected climate & livelihood risks interact with small scale producer vulnerability
  • Risk Management: What current and future adaptation strategies can reduce SSP vulnerability
