The Evans School Graduation Ceremony will be held at Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The ceremony will run until about 3:00 p.m. with a reception following immediately in the lobby. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for guests.

Graduates must convene, attired in cap and gown, by 11:30 a.m. (specific location TBD) for class photos and line up.

Eligibility

Graduates who earned their degrees in Summer 2017, Autumn 2017, or Winter 2018, and candidates who have a reasonable expectation of graduating in Spring 2018 or Summer 2018 are eligible to participate. Action Items

  1. For students completing all degree requirements during Spring Quarter 2018, submit your Master’s Degree Request during Spring Quarter. The final deadline is June 1, 2018.
    Note: All students who are graduating Spring Quarter must submit this request regardless of whether they are participating in the ceremony. Students who will complete their degree requirements in a later quarter should NOT submit a Master's Degree Request during Spring Quarter 2018.
     
  2. Register for the Evans School Graduation Ceremony by May (specific date TBD) if you plan to participate. 
     
  3. Order your cap, gown, and hood (Evans School hood color is peacock blue) in May (dates TBD). For ordering instructions and other information, please go to the UW Commencement webpage.
    **You are required to wear the cap (with black tassel), gown, and peacock blue hood in order to participate in the Evans School ceremony. If you are borrowing these items from previous graduates (the Evans Student Organization runs a cap and gown lottery system), please make sure you have a black tassel and peacock blue hood.
     
  4. Students are also welcome (not required) to participate in the UW Commencement Ceremony at Husky Stadium on Saturday, June 9. For more information, please visit the UW Commencement webpage.
     
  5. (Optional) You may order graduation announcements through one of three participating companies. This is handled through the UW Office of Commencement.

Q: Do my guests need tickets?

A: Neither guests nor graduates need tickets.

Q: How can I make sure I'm on track to complete all degree requirements?
A: Students can check their degree progress and review our MPA Degree Requirements Checklist. If students have any questions, they should schedule an academic advising appointment or attend walk-in advising hours (Tuesdays 3:00-5:00 p.m. and Thursdays 10:00 a.m.-Noon).

Q: When will I receive my diploma?
A: Diplomas are mailed to the address you selected in MyUW (local or permanent) two to three months following graduation. The Evans School does not manage diplomas, so please contact Graduation and Academic Records with any questions.

Q: Who should I contact if my guests need disability accommodations?
A: The Evans School Graduation Ceremony Registration form has a space to request disability accommodations in Meany Hall for your guests. For disability parking, please see the UW Commencement parking website.

Q: What time should I arrive at graduation?
A: You must arrive by 11:30 a.m. (specific location TBD), wearing your cap and gown, for class photos and line up.

Q: If I’m graduating Spring Quarter but I don’t want to participate in the Graduation Ceremony, what do I need to do?
A: Participating in the ceremony is not required. All students completing their degree requirements during Spring Quarter 2018 must submit their Master’s Degree Request by June 1 at the latest (by May TBD to have your name appear in the Evans School Graduation Ceremony program).

Q: Do I have to wear a cap, gown, and hood to participate in graduation?
A: Yes, all students walking in the graduation ceremony must wear a cap (with black tassel), gown, and hood in the Evans School color of peacock blue. You can order these items through the Commencement website. It is fine to borrow these items from alumni, but please make sure you have a black tassel and peacock blue hood.

Q: If I graduated in a previous quarter, what do I need to do to walk at graduation?
A: To participate in graduation, complete all steps listed above except for submitting a Master’s Degree Request. 

Q: How can I get an official transcript?
A: Instructions and the UW Transcript Request Form are available on the Office of the Registrar’s website.

Q: I graduated with my Bachelor's from the UW—can I reuse my gown and just order the Master's hood?
A: No. Bachelor's gowns are different than Master's gowns. Learn more here

Q: The Master's Degree Request asks whether I'm in a thesis or non-thesis program. Which should I select?
A: The MPA is a non-thesis program.
