Professor Dobel Panel Presentations at ASPA

J. Patrick Dobel appeared in two panels at the American Society of Public Administration meeting on March 8-11, 2018 in Denver, Colorado.

He presented at the Section for Integrity and Ethics of ASPA celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the journal Public Integrity. He spoke on strategic approaches to addressing systematic corruption and that role that leadership can and cannot play in addressing corruption and building integrity based organizations.

He presented at a panel of “Speaking Truth to Power: Leadership Ethics and the Trump Administration.” He addressed the issue of how to separate policy disagreements from genuine ethical violations in the administration and added historical perspective to identify past examples that were similar to what the Trump administration is accused of. Finally, he spoke of the difficult issue in academic scholarship and political action of moving from outrage to a political movement.
