Bio: Hello! I am a proud Texan, originally from a suburb of Dallas. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. (Hook ‘em!) My social work practicum was at a refugee resettlement agency, where I interned as a case worker and developed an interest in the interaction between government, non-profits, social policy, and immigration. After graduating, I moved to rural Montana to work for a nonpartisan political research non-profit in administration and fundraising. Over time, I realized that a Master’s program was a necessary next step. My focuses at Evans are social policy and non-profit management. Outside of school, I love trying new coffee shops and searching for the best tacos and gluten free foods in the city!
Why did you choose Evans?: It’s a draw between the core curriculum, the people, and a desire to not move away from the northwest (aka the mountains) quite yet. I was nervous about the quarter system and rainy weather, but my classmates (all of whom are inspiring and bring a wide range of experiences and perspectives in class and beyond) and widely applicable coursework outweigh the gray every day.
