Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Bio: Hello! My name is Luiza and I grew up in giant São Paulo, Brazil, though I’ve spent years in Hong Kong and Minnesota and have a soft spot for both places. I have a BA in Political Science from Macalester College, where I also focused on Economics and French. Prior to Evans, I worked on improving service delivery across the City Government of São Paulo, a job that made me passionate about public policy. I’m concentrating in policy analysis and am interested in tools to help local governments in Latin America improve public services. I also currently work as a Research Assistant at UW’s Center for Studies in Demography & Ecology.

Why did you choose Evans? I was very excited about living in Seattle, both for what the city offers and for the opportunity to study public policy where progressive ideas are being discussed. The Evans Admissions team was also particularly kind and resourceful!

Ask me about: Being an international student at Evans and UW, moving to the US and Seattle, balancing school and work, policy analysis, local government, Brazilian politics!
