Bio: Hi there! My name is Vitalii Zakhozhyi. Currently, I am a Graduate student and a Fulbright Scholar pursuing a Master of Public Administration Degree at the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance of the University of Washington. Prior to that, I worked as a Schuman Trainee at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium. Before that, I worked as a Projects Coordinator at the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, international philanthropic foundation, where I mainly dealt with World Wide Studies Program, which aimed at fostering a new generation of Ukrainian professional elites through financing their studies at world best universities. Before that, I was an intern in the Assurance Department (Audit sub-service line) at the Kyiv office of EY (Ernst&Young) and worked as an intern at Raiffeisen Bank Aval in Zhytomyr, Ukraine. I am an active member of Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum and a former Board Member of AEGEE-Kyiv, a local branch of the largest international youth organization in Europe. I have a Master degree in Banking from the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine. My hobbies are traveling, exploring new places, reading, drawing with watercolours, and cooking.
Why did you choose Evans?: Evans was in my priority list because, firstly, it is a great school. Ranked 4th top ten in the U.S., its MPA program with diverse academic design was very promising. The program is big, with more than 150 people in cohort, therefore you will have a great chance to meet new people with so different backgrounds from all over the world. The faculty and students create a great environment for studying. Another reason, why I decided to come here, was Seattle. Picturesque nature, open and friendly people, liberal spirit, new tech center, great music and art scene – Seattle is a great city to live and study here. It helps to find a work-life balance – so much needed thing while you pursuing a graduate degree.
