Prof. Zhao’s main research fields include Public Economy and Public Policy, Environmental Collaborative governance, Government Performance Management, Climate Change Policy and Governance. Prof. Zhao has published 5 monographs. He presided over 30 research projects which included those projects sponsored by National Social Science Foundation, the China Development Research Foundation, the World Bank, National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Asian Development Bank, and the Clean Development Mechanism Foundation. Prof. Zhao also presided the international cooperation projects from Environmental, Territorial and Marine Department of Italy. Prof. Zhao published more than 70 academic papers in Public Finance Research, Chinese Public Administration, Public Affairs Review (Taiwan), China Observation (Korea) and other international academic journals.
