THANK YOU – Fourth Annual Fellowship Dinner A Success

Last night, more than 300 Evans School champions gathered on the UW campus to celebrate the future of public service leadership and to support future Evans School students by donating more than $300,000 in student scholarship funds!

Over the past four years, the Evans School’s annual Fellowship Dinner has raised more than $1.2 million for Evans School student scholarships.  This is tremendous and makes it possible for students who may otherwise not be able to pursue a graduate degree at one of the nation’s top schools of public policy and governance to do so.

We were grateful that President Ana Mari Cauce could join us last night to kick off the event.  And our dynamic Emcee, Paul Rucker (MPA ’02), kept the evening lively and energetic, as he always does.

I couldn’t have been more proud as I listened to our inspiring Evans School alumni speakers Sara Levin (MPA ’99), Efraín Gutiérrez (MPA ’10), and Craig Davison (EMPA Cohort 11) – all of whom shared with our guests the tremendous impact Evans School alumni have in their careers and networks.

It’s always a highlight at this event to celebrate the birthday of my dear friend and our school’s namesake, Governor Dan Evans.  This year, to celebrate his turning 93-years-young, the crowd offered him a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.”

Regent Dr. Constance Rice (MPA ’70) was so gracious and inspiring, as she shared her memories as a student in the Evans School and reflected on her life in public service.  Not surprisingly , she offered a beautiful invitation to our guests to invest generously in future generations of Evans School students.

And to close the evening, Keynote speaker, the Honorable Sally Jewell, encouraged guests to think boldly and to engage across sectors and communities for the common public good.  If you weren’t able to join us last night, I encourage you to take a few minutes to listen to Secretary Jewell’s speech (as well as that of all of our tremendous speakers) by watching the event video here

Thank you to all who helped make this important event a success, including our generous sponsors, Host Committee, guests, speakers, student volunteers, and staff.  On behalf of the Evans School students, faculty and staff, thank you!
