Create a Transformational Learning Environment
On January 18, 2018, the Washington State Legislature voted to fully fund our $10 million request to renovate Parrington Hall when they voted in favor of the Capital Budget, bringing us that much closer to a 21st century learning environment.
Over the past year and a half, generous donors and alumni have contributed more than $7 million to this effort as well! Now 85% of our way towards our $20 million goal, we can put into action plans to expand our capacity to educate, research, and innovate.
Parrington Hall – the second oldest academic building on the University’s main Seattle campus – has been home to the Evans School for nearly 30 years. While the structure has served us well, it now limits our potential to attract top students and faculty because it is not equipped to provide the technology, classrooms, offices, and collaborative spaces desired by learners and scholars. I am grateful that our lawmakers recognized this need, and – using the same rigorous analysis and evidence-based decision-making we teach – ranked Parrington Hall as a top capital priority.
By contributing to the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy & Governance Fund for Capital Improvements, you will help us turn Parrington Hall into a learning environment for today’s and tomorrow’s learners and teachers -- an environment that inspires future public sector leaders to be creative, collaborative, bold, and boundless.
A remodeled building will include reconfigured large classrooms, additional faculty offices, and new communal areas for student group work and community building. It will create increased capacity for our more than 500 students and 100 faculty and staff. And by replacing the severely outdated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, our beloved historic building will better serve our #4 nationally ranked program.
THANK YOU for supporting this important project and the Campaign for the Evans School. Together, we are strengthening the future of public service leadership.
