The Evans School’s diverse student population makes it hard to describe the typical student and even harder to describe the quintessential Evans School student experience. Students come from all over the country and the world; from cities, suburbs, small towns and farms; from public, private and parochial schools; from varied ethnic and religious backgrounds; and from across the economic spectrum. One thing that Evans students do share is a commitment to furthering the public good, whether it’s through public policy, management, leadership, or research.
The Evans School strives to create a welcoming and respectful learning community that is defined by a commitment to service and support. Our alumni support students as mentors and professional connections. Our faculty and staff provide students with guidance and resources critical to their success. And our students collaborate and learn from one another.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
At the Evans School, and the larger UW, we believe that our community should reflect the wide variety of backgrounds, opinions, experiences, and perspectives evident in the world we live in. We strive for substantive inclusion and equity, and we continually work to increase our awareness and understanding of ourselves and the communities we serve. We understand that in order to effectively serve the public, we must be exposed to multiple perspectives including physical, cultural, intellectual, and economic diversity.
Through our collaborative efforts across the Evans School community, our staff, faculty, and students work together to promote and strengthen an inclusive school environment.
The UW Disability Resources for Students, a division within Student Life, is dedicated to ensuring access and inclusion for all students including those with either temporary or permanent physical, health, learning, sensory, or psychological disabilities. Learn more about accessibility at the UW.
