PUBPOL 509: Managing People in Public and Nonprofit Agencies

Explore the fundamentals of managing people with a specific emphasis on managing people in nonprofit and public agencies. Covers theoretical and practical aspects of management such as: understanding the importance of building a diverse team and applying techniques to coach, support, and motivate individual staff and teams; centering diversity, equity, and inclusion in management practices; understanding the nuts and bolts of human resources and ethics in public and nonprofit institutions;  tools for providing employees with feedback and performance assessments;  and navigating crisis and change as a manager.
