Student Consulting Lab Partner: Kitsap County Department of Community Development
The Kitsap County Department of Community Development (KCDCD) launched a Management Analytics Program in 2018 to transform their business from an analog process into a digital, data-driven organization. Part of this process has been the creation of Power BI dashboard visualizations to help staff, executive leadership, and external stakeholders better understand the permitting process from beginning to end. KCDCD asked our student consulting team to design and implement three Power BI dashboards that will help the organization inform their customers, staff, and executive leadership about critical aspects of the permitting process. The goal for each dashboard was to create visualizations that are simple, valuable, and easily understood by each audience. To this end, the students conducted a series of focus-group interviews with each audience to determine what information is most useful to them, how that information is currently presented, and how they would like that information to be presented in the future.
