Julia Karon joined the Evans School PhD Program in the Fall of 2022. Her research focuses on understanding structural barriers to employment. This includes projects examining geographic variation in early care and education (ECE) provision and understanding how spatial proximity to jobs and job training varies across populations. Her primary interest is the design and implementation of workforce development programs that effectively reduce structural inequality. Prior to joining Evans, Julia worked as a research analyst at Ithaka S+R where she conducted mixed methods research on higher education interventions designed to improve attainment and completion rates for historically underserved students.
