Lizzie Tong

Ph.D. Student
Elizabeth (Lizzie) Tong joined the Evans School in the Fall of 2022. Their research examines how public and place-based policies shape economic opportunity and upward mobility for low-income households. More recently, she has focused on the role of social, cultural, and community factors in influencing the construction of “structurally transformative” policy. Lizzie applies an interdisciplinary and mixed methods approach from the disciplines of sociology, economics, political science, ethnic studies, and public administration. Prior to joining Evans, Lizzie worked as a research assistant for the Community Development and Policy Studies Team at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
