Travis Axe

Before UW I got a degree in Computer Science and accumulated about a decade of professional experience across the world. This includes several years in East Africa where I was a director for a forestry NGO. I decided to pursue both an MS and an MPA to help fill in some professional gaps that I felt I had, so aside from studying Environmental Policy with the Evans school, I am also a student of Environmental Science with the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences. I am currently a member of the Remote Sensing and Geospatial Analysis Lab where we play with cool things like drones, LiDAR, satellites, GIS, and more! Since spring 2016 I have been a Research Assistant working on a forestry project for the Department of Natural Resources. My research goals are to further our understanding of how drones and GIS can bolster environmental NGOs and become one of many tools that will [hopefully] save the planet.
