Priority Onboarding Tasks
- Create your UW NetID and password.
- Request your Husky Card ID for new students by mail.
- Submit official transcripts to the Graduate School. Learn more about this requirement.
- Submit immunization records to UW. Learn more about this requirement.
- Register for your winter quarter course. Late fees will be add if you register after the January 4, 2026 deadline.
- Complete Pre-Program Survey (takes about 8 to 10 minutes).
- Review the Graduate Certificate Program Student Handbook.
New Student Virtual Orientation
Save the date to attend the new student orientation on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. We will email you the zoom link and agenda closer to orientation date.
Tuition and Fees
Pay tuition and fees by January 25, 2026. Late fees will be assesed starting January 26, 2026.

Yes! You will receive important messages from your course professors, the Evans School and various UW offices via your UW email. Be sure you check your UW email messages regularly so that you do not miss important information.
You have two basic options for email—forward UW email to a personal email inbox, or use a UW email service. For more information on setting up your email, please check out the UW IT Student Quick-Start Guide.
In-person meetings and classes will take place in Parrington Hall on the UW’s Seattle campus. Occasionally, buildings and room numbers change. For the most up-to-date information, refer to the detail provided in your Canvas course site.
Online course meetings take place on Zoom. Your course instructors will provide links on your Canvas course sites.
The UW’s Transportation Services has information about transit, parking, payment, accessibility, and maps.
Canvas is the UW’s course learning platform. Your courses will each have a Canvas site that you’ll use to access assignment instructions, submit completed assignments, contribute to group discussions, track course grades, and more.
You will have access to your Canvas course site after you have completed registration and after the course instructor has published the course site.
New to Canvas? UW IT offers Canvas support.
If your employer is directly paying all or part of their UW tuition, this is called a third-party payment. If you pay tuition and then gets reimbursed by your employer, this is not considered a third-party payment. For support with third-party payments, students should work directly with the Professional & Continuing Education (PCE) office.
The U-PASS is the transportation benefit integrated with your UW Husky Card. Learn more about the many U-PASS benefits, including how and where to use it on regional public transportation.
All students who pay the Service & Activities Fee (SAF) are automatically members of the Universal Student U-PASS program. A mandatory quarterly fee appears on tuition statements. Oversight of this program is through a student advisory board appointed by the ASUW and GPSS.
To maintain your U-PASS activation between quarters, you must be registered for classes nine days prior to the next quarter start. Otherwise, your U-PASS will be deactivated and will be reactivated for transit 12 to 24 hours after you register again. For specific payment and activation dates, see the academic calendar.
Withdrawing from classes will deactivate your U-PASS. If it is on or before the 7th calendar day of the quarter, you will receive a full refund of the fee. A 50 percent refund is available until the 30th calendar day of the quarter. No refund is available if you withdraw on or after the 31st day.
Yes! As a matriculated UW graduate certificate student, you have access to UW Rec and UW Libraries.
