Howard E. McCurdy

Distinguished Practitioner

Professor McCurdy is an affiliate professor at the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance and a full professor with tenure at the American University School of Public Affairs in Washington, D.C. He has published eight books on space and science policy and three books on public administration, plus a variety of articles. Subjects include the effect of imagination on public policy, organizational culture, managerial innovation, presidential leadership, administrative theory, and the intellectual development of public administration, among other subjects. He received his bachelors and master’s degrees from the University of Washington and his doctorate from Cornell University. A native of the Pacific Northwest, he has worked as a legislative aide at the Washington State Legislature and a management analyst for the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.
